Monetary Contributions

As a nonprofit organization, Riverview Children's Center relies on the generosity of individual, corporate, and foundation contributors. With tuition covering only 70% of RCC's program costs, funding is needed to extend scholarships and sliding fees to families who otherwise would be forced to accept lower-quality lower-cost care, and for general operating expenses. Like so many others, RCC is challenged by increased energy and health care costs, decreased investment performance, and the need to do more with less.

Your support and involvement is most welcome. Private donations may be directed toward a specific need-such as our scholarship fund-or general operating expenses.

United Way

We are also a United Way-eligible agency. To direct your donation to RCC, specify donor designation code 259 at the time you make your pledge.

In-Kind Contributions

Not all assistance comes in the form of money! We are so grateful for the many volunteers and "in kind" contributions that friends and families of RCC have helped to arrange. If you have goods, services, or gently used items you think we could use, please give us a call or send an email.

Special Program for Pennsylvania Businesses

Thanks to a little-known state tax credit program, most Pennsylvania businesses with state income tax liability can reduce that liability while helping to ensure quality education for the state's youngest students. Businesses making donations to scholarship organizations that qualify under the Pre-Kindergarten Tax Credit program (PKTC) can obtain a "dollar-for-dollar" tax credit against certain Pennsylvania business taxes. Riverview Children's Center in Verona and Shady Lane School in Point Breeze (RCC/SL) ask you to direct a portion of your state taxes to the Pre-Kindergarten Tax Credit program, helping us to fund scholarships for families who can't afford quality early care and education for their children.

As an employer, you are likely familiar with the struggles of working families to secure reliable, affordable childcare-and how doing so allows family members to be more productive, attentive employees. Participating in the tax credit program gives you a rare opportunity to be able to help families in need without increasing your own out-of-pocket expenses. The application process is simple, and we'll make it even easier for you! We hope you'll agree to help. More Details

Other Ways to Help

Thanks to the efforts of RCC's Parents' Group, there are several easy ways to support RCC:

  • Paper collection: Recycle your newspaper, magazines, shopping catalogs, office and school papers as well as mail can at the green and yellow Abitibi Paper RetrieverÆ bin located on the edge of the RCC parking lot, just as you enter our driveway. With proceeds going to RCC, you'll be helping the environment AND your favorite school!
  • Ink Jet/Toner Cartridge Recycling: We collect used printer cartridges for recycling-simply drop yours off at RCC's front desk.
  • Cell phones: Do you have an old cell phone you no longer use? After your service has been deactivated, drop it off at RCC and we'll send it to be recycled.
  • BoxTops for Education: Look for the Box Tops logo on your favorite products, from General Mills cereals to Ziploc bags and many other items as well. Clip the Box Tops "coupon" and bring it to RCC.
  • Giant Eagle Apples For The Students: Select RCC to receive points every time you use your Giant Eagle Advantage card. Designate RCC as your preferred school at Giant Eagle's website. Then scan your Giant Eagle Advantage Card every time you shop.
